Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Trials are not punishment — they are the workshop where character is forged. James says 'when', not 'if'. Suffering, surrendered to God, completes what comfort never could.
“Lord, I do not feel the joy yet. But I trust that nothing comes to me except first through Your hand. Finish in me what this trial has begun. Make me mature, complete, lacking nothing.”
Name the trial you are currently carrying. Write one line each evening of what God is forming in you through it — patience, dependence, compassion, humility. Look back after 30 days.
What might God be growing in you that only this trial could grow?
Scripture multiplies when it is passed person to person. If someone you love needs these words today, send it.
If despair, hopelessness, or thoughts of harm rise during prolonged trials, please reach out to Samaritans (116 123) or a Christian counsellor.
